Each performance is crafted to surprise, provoke, and entertain—ranging from heartwarming dramas and laugh-out-loud comedies to bold experimental pieces. The festival provides a platform for new voices to be heard. Audiences can expect engaging talkbacks with the playwrights and artists after the performance. Whether you're a seasoned theatre lover or a curious newcomer, the Beach Theatre Play Festival invites you to experience the magic of theatre at its ground level, the Staged Reading.

Preserve the 'Burg
September 22nd
Join Preserve the ‘Burg at the recently renovated historic Beach Theatre to kick off the Fall season! First opened in 1940, the theatre served as the entertainment heart of St. Pete Beach for over 60 years before closing in 2012. The Hockman Family purchased the cinema in 2024 with the goal of restoring the building’s former glory for a new audience and reopened in July 2025.
Doors open at 6:30 PM, with a 7 PM screening of the documentary "A New Wave: The Revival of The Beach Theatre". This original short film by Lunar Speedboat Productions captures the extraordinary journey of bringing the beloved Beach Theatre back to life. The screening will be immediately followed by a conversation with Hannah Hockman (Beach Theatre owner and Director), Manny Leto (PTB executive director), and Tom Scofield (Preservation Planner, Pinellas County).
Tickets are $25 for PTB members (passcode required) and $30 for non-members. The first 100 registrants will receive a ticket for a beverage or concession stand snack.

The Beach Theatre is rolling out the pink carpet for a special screening of the iconic teen comedy that taught us the rules of high school survival and the importance of wearing pink on Wednesdays. Join us for a night of fetch-worthy nostalgia, quotable one-liners, and plenty of laughs as we follow Cady Heron’s journey into the world of The Plastics.
Guests are encouraged to dress in their best Mean Girls-inspired outfits, from pink ensembles to burn book chic, and snap photos in our themed photo area before the film. Whether you’ve seen it a hundred times or it’s your first trip to North Shore High, this is your chance to celebrate the cult classic on the one day a year it has to be watched.
